Abstract

In the article the problems of mythological representations connected with horse and the origin of horse breeding are considered. On the basis of archeological, historical and ethnographic sources the questions about the origin of horses and horse breeding are scientifically analysed. In the Middle Ages the practice of breeding new varieties of horses became widespread, which caused the emergence of such horse varieties as Akhalteke, Karabair, Lakai, Arabian, Novokirgiz and the formation of horse care culture. Scientific analyses of poems about "Heavenly Horses", myths, fairy tales, works of fine arts, stone images of horses are given.
